OC Celebrates Bloomsday, The Work of James Joyce

The City’s annual BLOOMSDAY Celebration, readings from the works of that monumental classic Ulysses by James Joyce, is set for Tues., June 16. The event is hosted and staged buy Flossi Micciolo, founder of the Ocean City Repertory Theater and is free.

It starts at noon with a Bloomsday Tea at Scarborough Inn, 720 Ocean Ave., featuring songs of a bygone era, sandwiches and scones. From there it moves to various locations with readings and food served: It will be at the Ocean City Fine Arts League, 608 Asbury Ave., from 1:30 to 2 p.m., City Hall, 900 Asbury Ave., from 3 to 4 p.m., Godfrey Funeral Home, 809 Central Ave., from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Sun Rose Words and Music, 756 Asbury Ave., from 6-7 p.m., Denovum, 908 Asbury Ave., from 7:30 p.m. till midnight. Here a traditional Irish dinner will be served by actors who will read and sing in tribute to Joyce.
