LULU TEMPLE, RESTAURANT WEEK ARRIVE, FLOWER SHOW NEXT

LULU TEMPLE, a philanthropic organization that supports free children’s hospitals in Philadelphia and throughout the country, will visit Ocean City May 29-30. LuLu has been coming to Ocean City for 47 years and this weekend will be led by Potentate, Joel L. Ward. The charitable organization will celebrate its 125 Anniversary with a band concert 8 p.m. at the Music Pier on Friday and a Saturday parade on the Boardwalk at 1 p.m. from 6th to 12th Sts. The concert band was organized in 1891 and is the oldest of all the 191 Shrine Centers in North America. The free program will include varied selections of show tunes and patriotic music. Ocean Dip, Barks on Boards, Memorial Service this Weekend

The traditional turning of the key to open the ocean followed by a joyful BUSINESS PERSONS PLUNGE into the sea, kick off the City’s Memorial Day Weekend events on Fri., May 22. City Beach Patrol members and officials will key the sand at noon on the Moorlyn Terrace beach near the ocean… and Voila! the waters will be ours for another season! Next, business folks dressed in spiffy attire will march into the ocean to the strains of Pomp and Circumstance. It’s their way of welcoming another season and the vacationers it will bring to this popular family resort. Ocean City, NJ was named #1 Beach in New Jersey, #1 Beach for Eco-Tourism, and #1 Beach for Day Trips through a survey conducted by New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium (NJMSC), New Jersey Sea Grant (NJSG) and Richard Stockton College Coastal Research Center (CRC). Wellness Fest, Memorial Day, Flower Show, On the Way!

This will be a very healthy weekend in Ocean City. The WEEKEND OF WELLNESS or WOW EXPO is set for the Music Pier, May 15-16 and admission is free! Smack dab in the middle of all this, the American Heart Assn. will hold its annual HEART WALK on Saturday starting 10:30 a.m. at the Sports and Civic Center, 6th St. off Boardwalk.
