Dave Mason, Yard Sale & More This Weekend, Block Party Next

I'd like to start this column with a reminder about SHAINA HORTON, a young Ocean City mother and friend to many, who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. A fund raiser is set to help the family cope with expenses during a very trying period. Shaina is currently at Cooper Hospital and her condition is being monitored by the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. The event will be held at the Flanders Hotel, 11th and Boardwalk, on Fri., Oct. 1 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The evening includes dinner, dancing, beverages, a silent auction and entertainment. MS Bikers, Corvettes, Dog of Year This Weekend, Yard Sale Next

Over 7000 bikers will roll into town on Saturday for the annual MS BIKE-A-THON, one of the largest events of its kind in the country. The event raises over $3 million to combat Multiple Sclerosis and assist clients and their families affected by the disease. This monumental event was started by Philadelphia anchor and news personality, Larry Kane. He had a meeting with City officials and some of his friends at the Plymouth Inn. About 30 signed up for the first ride. Larry promoted the bike-a-ton on his TV program. He built the ride into a huge fund raiser. Two Day Air Show, Red & White Parade, Pops Final This Weekend

Ocean City's AVIATION WEEKEND features two exciting, free events. Action is set For Sat., Sep. 18 at the Municipal Airport, 26 and Bay Ave. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sun., Sept.19 from noon to 3 p.m. from 6th to 14th Sts. over the Boardwalk. The Airport grounds will be packed with unusual airplanes on its runway. Visitors will be able to inspect an array of antiques, World War II planes, Home Builts, Ultra Lights and Classics. Prizes will be awarded to outstanding entries at 2 p.m. Rachel Reese, Miss Ocean City, Casey Cattie, Junior Miss Ocean City and Sadie Ford, Little Miss Ocean City will present the awards. Street Rods, Sept. 11 Ceremony This Weekend, Air Festival Next

One of the City's most colorful events, the annual STREET ROD Show, is set for this weekend, Friday through Sunday (Sept. 10-12). Street Rod owners from throughout the East Coast will display over 200 of their enhanced vehicles for the 36th time here. A Street Rod is any car manufactured prior to1964 that has been modified with more modern parts. Owners are creative and in addition to adding exterior and interior modifications often paint unusual designs on the bodies of the vehicles. Cars will be parked at the Sports and Civic Center, 6th St. off Boardwalk, from noon Sept. 10 until 2 p.m. Sept. 12. Lots of Events in September to Keep You Entertained

Events in Ocean City this September are plentiful. They include a Weekend Air Festival, a Broadway production by the Ocean City Pops and the Ocean City Theatre Co., Two major car shows (Corvettes and Street Rods), a Farmers Market every Saturday in the downtown, on-going Ocean City Pops Concerts, the annual September 11th ceremony, the huge MS Bike-A-Thon and much more. The Labor Day Weekend begins with our annual KING AND QUEEN OF PLOP contest on Fri., Sept. 3 starting 11 a.m. on the 9th St. Beach adjacent to the Music Pier.
