Walk for Wounded Saturday, Block Party Weekend is Next

Ocean City celebrates one of its most popular events, the Indian Summer Weekend, for the 38th time Oct. 6-8. Centerpiece of the event is the mile-long FALL BLOCK PARTY that extends from 5th to 14th Sts. on Asbury Ave. on Sat., Oct. 6 and attracts more than 40,000 visitors. Over 350 juried crafters from throughout the east coast participate in the block party. An array of hand made products will be featured. Block Party hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A huge fireworks display is scheduled following the block party. The fireworks are fired from a barge off the 9th St. Beach at 9:30 p.m. Block party events include a variety of foods. Over 400 Corvettes Roll Into Ocean City on Sunday

(Sept. 23) One of the largest Corvette Shows in the country will be held here on Sunday. Over 400 of the popular cars will be displayed on the Boardwalk starting 11:30 a.m. The autos will date back to the Corvette’s first model in 1953 and extend to the present. The show is one of the largest in the East with Corvette owners from Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey participating plus scattered entries from as far away as Ohio, Indiana and Florida. The event is held rain or shine. Registration is from 8 a.m. till 10 a.m. at the Ocean City Airport, 26th and Bay Ave. The Ocean City Humane Society and Food Cupboard will be accepting donations at that location. Two Air Festivals Scheduled for This Weekend in Ocean City

It will be two Air Festivals for the price of none this weekend as Ocean City presents two free aerial exhibitions featuring both interesting ground displays and thrilling maneuvers in space. (Sept. 15) This Saturday, the Ocean City Airport Assn., holds its 21st Annual AIR FESTIVAL, at the Municipal Airport, 26th and Bay Ave. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The airport grounds will be packed with unusual airplanes including Classics, Ultra Lights, Warbirds, Antiques, and Home Builts. Admission is free. Highlight of the ground display will be a rare, World War II B-25 Mitchell Bomber that gained fame for its durability and flexibility during that conflict. September 11th Ceremony Features Sculpture, Street Rods This Weekend

The City will honor the September 11th victims and their families at “A Day To Remember Ceremony” on Tues., September 11 at 7 p.m. with music beginning at 6 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the 6th St. Firehouse across from the Tabernacle Grounds. It will feature the unveiling and dedication of a new Memorial Sculpture that features the I-beam from the World Trade Center. The City worked with the Community Arts Project (CAP) and artist Jose’ Chora to design and build the memorial after Mayor Jay Gillian requested the I-Beam from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. “We are honored to unveil the new community sculpture in Ocean City.
