Block Party Saturday with Many Events to Follow

Reminder: The City’s 32nd “Smile-Long” SPRING BLOCK PARTY is set for (Sat., May 2nd) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the downtown. We say “Smile-Long” because most folks really enjoy the mile long event that extends from 5th to 14th Streets on Asbury Ave. There will be over 350 Crafters, 100 specialty shops, restaurants, food vendors and live music. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. music by Bubba Mac’s Blues Band, Tidal Wave, the Robert Boney Ensemble, Big Daddy Band, Tony DeLuca and Keith Hickman is scheduled. At the Tabernacle grounds, 6th and Asbury Ave., there will be free pony rides for children. Also, popular magician and juggler, Chad Juros, will perform at that location. Gala Spring Block Party Set for May 2nd

Ocean City’s 32nd SPRING BLOCK PARTY is just a week and a half away. The popular event will be held on Sat., (May 2nd) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The mile long festival extends from 5th to 14th Sts. on Asbury Ave. along Ocean City’s Award Winning Downtown. There will be over 350 crafters with lots of unusual and practical items for sale. The downtown features over 100 specialty shops and some especially good restaurants. Spring Events Blooming in Ocean City

Seems like spring finally arrived with the Doo Dah Parade on Saturday. The sun was shining, the Boardwalk was full of cheerful spectators, the bands played, the costumed characters cavorted and over 500 basset hounds brought smiles to young and old alike. Here are some of the events that are coming your way between now and the big May 2nd. Block Party and beyond: (April 15) The public is invited to join the Ocean City Free Public Library at 5:30 p.m. for the rollout ribbon cutting of its new BOOKMOBILE. The event will be held on the 17th St. side of the Ocean City Community Center, 17th and Simpson Ave.  It will feature speakers from the Library Board and Staff. Who’s Who at the Doo Dah Parade

WHO WILL BEGIN PARADE:  The colorful Pitman Hobo Band will lead the Ocean City’s 30th Doo Dah Parade on Saturday, April 11th. The legendary Pitman organization has been with us all 30 years of the event. The Parade starts at noon at 6th and Asbury Ave., goes to 12th and Asbury, turns to the Boardwalk and ends at the Music Pier where there will be various ceremonies and the exciting PieAsco. The Hobo Band will be joined by two Dixieland Bands, a Bagpipe Band and the “School of Rock,” two high school pop bands. WHO WILL END THE PARADE: At least 500, easy going, ear flapping, tail wagging Basset Hounds in honor of the Tri State Basset Hound Rescue League that finds a home for abandoned bassets and rehabilitates them.
