Art of Surfing Returns to Music Pier This Weekend

Ocean City is recognized throughout the country as an outstanding SURFING COMMUNITY. The High School has won over 20 regional championships sponsored by the National Scholastic Surfing Association. Its team has competed several times in the nationals against some of the best surfers in the world including contingents from Hawaii. Many surfing groups hold competitions and fundraisers here. The City accommodates enthusiasts by designating surfing areas at the 7th and 16th St. and Waverly Beaches. There are three shops in Ocean City specializing in surfing, 7th Street Surf Shop, Heritage Surf and Sport Shop and Surfers Supplies. Ocean City is Fortunate to Have…

Ocean City is fortunate to have a historic FISHING CLUB. For the past three years its members have invited visitors to stroll the 635 ft. Pier, watch surfcasting demonstrations and take photos from a magnificent location. Visitors have also learned about the remarkable history of the Club. It is the oldest, continuously operating facility of its kind in the nation. It has hosted national surfcasting events and has given back to the City by supporting its Food Cupboard. There are two open house tours this summer. One held this Thursday (July 23) and one on August 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. They coincide with the City’s popular Family Nights on the Boardwalk. Philippine Tribute Features State Yo Yo Championships

Ocean City will present its 6th Annual Tribute to the Philippines this Saturday, July 18th. Opening ceremonies are set for 9 a.m. in front of the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. Michele Gillian, Executive Director of the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce, will join Consul General Mario de Leon, Jr. of the Philippines. The two will discuss on-going cooperation and mutual projects.
Following opening ceremonies there will be entertainment on the Boardwalk in front of the Pier. This will include the Rowan University Filipino dancers, the Mutya Philippine Dance Company and the PCS Youth Company groups. Representing the City and American music will be Rock 'n Roll Hall Of Fame member Dick Richards and his Ready Rockers. Night in Venice Begins 6 P.M. on Saturday

NIGHT IN VENICE, Ocean City's colorful boat parade and decorated home celebration has been entertaining visitors and residents for 61 years. The current gala is set for this Saturday, July 11th starting 6 p.m. at the Longport Bridge. Boats will sail along the Bay and in and out of Lagoons from the Longport Bridge  to Tennessee Ave. Approximately 70 boat owners and 200 Bay residents are expected to compete for prizes. Optional decorating theme is "Dancing Under the Stars." Music will be featured with many entries.
