Quiet Festival, Craft Shows, New Mural, Veterans Day This Week – By Mark Soifer, Ocean City Publicist

(Now through Nov. 15) The 10th Annual QUIET FESTIVAL, that has already been featured in AAA Magazine, and on national CBS Radio started yesterday and continues though Nov.15. All events are free. The schedule includes: (Wed. Nov. 9th) The Official Quiet Festival OPENING CEREMONY in front of City Hall, 9th and Asbury Ave. at noon featuring a Yawn Along to Beautiful Dreamer, the Ocean City High School Sign Club, a Yo Yo Demonstration by Air Circus, the World’s only Maple Pod Drop, the World’s Only Wind Chimes Band performing Brother Can You Spare a Chime, Nancy Fox singing a quiet song, Quiet Festival Poems, bubbles, leaf squeezing, paper airplanes and more. If We Continue to Work Together 2010 Should be a Good Year for Tourism

Tourism is a very competitive business. Tourism during a recession is even more competitive. Ocean City held its own last year in most aspects of tourism and moved ahead in others. The forecast is positive for 2010. The City has become more aggressive in its advertising thanks to the Tourism Commission that is funded by an addition to the mercantile tax. The Chamber of Commerce headed by Michele Gillian has made great strides with its website, Face Book marketing and city wide promotions. Our volunteers save us thousands of dollars by helping to support many special events such as Night In Venice, the Baby Parade, the Halloween Parade, etc. These events would not be possible without their help.
