How to Prepare Yourself for Upcoming Special Events

As a public service, we are offering some helpful hints on how to prepare yourself for upcoming special events. By taking just a few minutes to read the capsules below, you could increase your enjoyment of a special event by 25 to 40 per cent, according to studies recently completed by Trash Buster and Martin Z. Mollusk. THE WOOFIN’ PAWS pet fashion competition is coming your way on Sat., April 11 starting 11 a.m. at Carey Stadium, 6th St. off Boardwalk. The contest is for any pet that will not eat another pet. So it wouldn’t be too cool if your pet boa constrictor tried to eat Sweetie Pie, my cute little poodle mix. She would probably nip your snake on the nose, make it cry and create a general disturbance... Read More

Train Show, Santa Paws This Weekend, Holiday Concerts Set

This is the busiest holiday season in my memory for special events and music in Ocean City. The downtown Christmas celebration last Friday with Santa descending from the roof of City Hall was a huge hit. Children cheered (well more like screamed) at the sight of the airborne elf. Wonderland’s free train rides at City Hall Annex were crowded all day and will be open again this weekend. There will be free horse and carriage rides again from noon to 3 p.m. on weekends till Dec. 20-21 leaving from in front of City Hall. There will be photos with Santa in a lifeboat at the Music Pier the same weekends for a charge from noon till 3 p.m. Our colorful CHRISTMAS PARADE is yet to come! It’s set for Sat., Dec. 13th... Read More

Quiet Festival, Nap Rally, Big Craft Show Set for this Weekend

A highlight of this weekend’s Quiet festival will be the kick-off of NAP, the National Association of Tired People, a festival spin off. I have been elected president of NAP, an organization I founded three years ago but have been too exhausted to do anything about until now. In accepting the presidency I note that I have been tired for about 40 years and so feel uniquely qualified to represent the millions of tired folks in this country and around the world. Surely we can all find something to be tired about. I will underscore this at my acceptance speech during the Quiet Festival’s Wind Chimes Symphony set for Sat., 11 a.m. in front of the Music Pier Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. During this ceremony, there will be a maple pod drop... Read More
