Old Fashioned Christmas in the Downtown on Friday – What’s Happening 11/25/15

(Nov. 27) This popular event will feature lots of free fun and entertainment from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. SANTA descends from the City Hall Roof at 5 p.m., the PHILLIE PHANATIC and many others entertain: Program includes Show Stoppers (Carolers and String Band) strolling Avenue 6-9th St. from 2 – 4 p.m.; Fox Production Singers strolling from 8th-11th St., 2 -4 p.m.; Michael Hartman, Ocean City Theatre Co., 4-5 p.m. at City Hall; Keith Hickman, performing on City Hall Steps, 1:30 p.m.-4 p.m.; Dean Duncan, Stilt Walker, strolling from 6-11th St., 2-5 p.m.; free Horse and Carriage Rides, 1 p.m.-3:30 p.m. from in front of City Hall; SANTA, Gazebo Park, across from City Hall, 2-3 p.m., 5:15-5:45 p.m. (bring your camera), the PHILLIE PHANATIC, 4-6 p.m.  at City Hall. (Nov.  28) SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY: Downtown and Boardwalk merchants will celebrate the season by offering day-long specials. This is a national event sponsored by American Express and promoted by the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce for the day after “Black Friday.” For information, call (609) 399-1412.

(Dec. 3) CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAY at Ocean City Arts Center, 17th and Simpson Åve. Visit the Ocean City Arts Center to purchase handmade, one of a kind gifts for the Holidays. Refreshments will be served all day. The Center’s pottery students will exhibit a gallery of ceramic bowls, mugs, vases, décor and more. The Center is open Mon.-Fri., 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. or Sat. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Treat someone to an art class with an Art Center’s Gift Certificate.

(Dec. 4) CHRISTMAS PARADE: This Parade brings Santa to town, horse and buggy style. Route is 6th to 11th St. on Asbury Ave. Parade starts 6:30 p.m.  Afterwards Santa will be located at the Park across from City Hall, 9th and Asbury Ave. He will pose for photos (bring your camera) and hand out treats.

(Dec. 5) CHRISTMAS TROLLEY TOUR and SING: Join the Ocean City Historical Museum for a Christmas History Trolley Tour led by John Loeper with songs led by Dr. Richard Stanislaw. There will be stop at the historic Snodgrass home on Central Ave. The tour ends at 17th and Simpson Ave. where visitors will see a new Museum exhibit: “Home for the Holidays, Christmas 1945” and be treated to holiday fare. CLAUS’S MARKET, a gift shop with expanded inventory just in time for the holidays from Dec. 5-12.

Lionel Display with working accessories in Solarium plus vendors selling trains, train parts, holiday decorations, memorabilia and more. Repairs made on site by technician Dick Yard. Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat., 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sun. Admission $3 for adults, $1 for children, 12 and under.

(DEC. 11-13) SWINGIN’ INTO THE HOLIDAYS: 2015 spectacular at Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace presented by the Ocean City Theatre Co. A professional group of singers and dancers present an enchanting tribute to the holiday season. Directed and choreographed by Michael Hartman.
