Red Cross Blood Drive

The month of January is National Volunteer Blood Donor Month, a time when blood donors across the country are recognized for their lifesaving contributions to the health of others.

The Red Cross thanks our generous donors who support the community blood supply by rolling up their sleeves to help give the gift of life. Donated blood is used to help accident victims, trauma patients, transplant recipients, and those receiving treatment for life-threatening illnesses. Maintaining sufficient blood to meet patient needs is a delicate balance between supply and demand. The American Red Cross Blood Services must collect enough blood each and every day to continuously meet the needs of patients.

If you are a type O blood donor, we especially encourage you to give blood. Type O negative blood is the universal blood type and can be transfused to anyone who needs blood, regardless of their own blood type. Type O negative blood may be used during emergencies, when there is no time to cross-match a person’s blood type.

To donate blood during the month of January, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment.
