There will be a new edition to this year’s annual Business Person’s Plunge in Ocean City, NJ on Friday, May 24th. The famous Botto’s Italian Sausage, found in your local supermarkets, proudly unveils the grand opening of its first express restaurant, Botto’s Sausage Express, right on the boardwalk at 10th Street. Ocean City Mayor, Jay Gillian, will be present for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 12:45 PM. 97.5 The Fanatic will be broadcasting the Tony Bruno and Jon Marks shows live from inside the restaurant from 10AM-2PM.

People in Crisis Expands its Out-Reach - Programs to Assist Veterans in Need

OCEAN CITY, N.J.: People in Crisis, a local organization that helps people in need obtain medical and living care, has expanded its programs to assist veterans.

Founded by Ocean City resident Lana Samuels, PICI now operates nationally and has gained the support of physicians, pharmacists, lawyers, businesses and such personalities as Phil Martelli, St. Joseph’s University basketball coach, who is a member of its Out Reach Committee plus Matt Crowley, head golf professional, Stone Harbor Golf Club.              

Samuels has gone door to door for years fund raising and identifying people in need. She discovered there were many area veterans puzzled about how to obtain their VA benefits. They required expert assistance to understand and complete procedures.

Salute to Working Women set for May 1st

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce announces that they will honor OCNJ C.A.R.E. (Cleanup And Recovery Efforts) volunteers Dottie Cianci, Karin Gleason, Maria Marinelli and Kathy Sykes at its Annual Salute to Working Women. The Salute will be held on May 1st at noon at the Ocean City Yacht Club.

While there were hundreds of volunteers that made Ocean City’s recovery efforts possible after Super Storm Sandy, these four women were essential in the process and took leadership roles in which we will be forever thankful.   Additionally, Sarah Lee, Caitlin Greene, Rose Savastano and Shawnda McGinnis will be recognized for the committee support they provided.

The luncheon will honor all working women at home or in the workforce.  The luncheon is open to the public and is $25 per person. Model building is a fascinating world and has many facets.  It’s a way to express your creativity, to better understand construction and design, and to learn about the past.  Join the Ocean City Historical Museum on April 27, 2013 from 10AM to 1PM as we delve into the world of models.  We will have models of all sorts on display and you’ll be able to ask questions and learn from veteran model builders.  You are sure to learn something and you might even have some fun!

Hamming it up for the Doo Dah Parade

Dietz and Watson, the major sponsor of Ocean City’s Doo Dah Parade, provides the free T Shirts and free hotdog lunch for parade marchers plus banners and funds for the event. On April 13 for the 28th Parade, the prominent Philadelphia food company will also provide the hefty smoked ham, shown center, to the winner of a new Doo Dah category that best illustrates the family resort is completely ready to accommodate it vacationers following Super Storm Sandy.

Walking for Peace Coming to Stockton and Ocean City

The community of Ocean City, Seaville Friends, and the Unitarian Universalists in Pomona will have the privilege of welcoming the Buddhist monastic Peace Walkers on their journey from the New England Peace Pagoda to Washington, DC. In the name of “Peace for the People – For the Earth”, these walkers who have left Massachusetts on February 15th , and are making their way to DC for April 5th will entrust themselves to local communities along the way for hospitality and respite. They will spend one evening in Pomona and two in Ocean City.

Ocean City Community Holy Week Services

All members of the community are invited to prepare for Easter by attending the annual Good Friday Service, March 29th from 12 noon to 3:00PM at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 8th Street & Central Avenue. Area clergy will preach on “The Seven Last Words of Christ”. Music will be presented by St. Peter’s Choir and soloists. The Ocean City Ministerium and Ecumenical Council are sponsors of this service. Worshipers are invited to come and go as their schedule permits or to stay for the entire service.

Thousands Expected to "Get in the Fight" for OC's 1st "StandUp4SEALS" Event

OCEAN CITY, N.J. (Saturday, May 25, 2013) — StandUp4SEALs, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the families of fallen SEALs and other Spec Ops warriors will sponsor its First Annual Beach Adventure Race which will include a sand obstacle course for adults and a fun sand challenge run for kids under 10. Event will also highlight a Stand Up Paddle Ocean Challenge (SUP). Festivities and race event will begin and end at 4th Street Beach on the morning of Saturday, May 25th, 2013.

Call to Photographers: Annual Juried Photography Show

Ocean City Arts Center

Ocean City -- Photographs will be accepted through March 26 at the Ocean City Arts Center for the April Juried Art Show.

Up to four photographs may be submitted at a cost of $18 each.  All work must be framed with glass or plexi-glass and be ready to hang with wire attached.  Traditional photography and digital/computer generated photos are eligible.  Overall frame size should not exceed 24 by 28 inches.

Congressman LoBiondo to Address Ocean City Chamber

OCNJ C.A.R.E. Pecks Beach Village Cleanup

Due to current snowy weather conditions in Ocean City the Pecks Beach Village Cleanup scheduled for Saturday Feb. 2 has been postponed. At this time a new date for this event has not been scheduled, however we will certainly keep the public notified of any future cleanup opportunities.

We appreciate your good intentions and hope to work with you in our continuing efforts to restore and improve Ocean City, NJ. The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 2012 Citizen of the Year and Business Beautification Awards Dinner had been postponed due to Super Storm Sandy. The Dinner has been rescheduled and is being combined the Chamber’s Annual Board of Directors Installation Dinner. OCNJ C.A.R.E. Pecks Beach Village Cleanup

OCNJ C.A.R.E., the non-profit organization established to help Ocean City residents and businesses rebuild and recover after super storm Sandy, is looking for volunteers to help in an upcoming cleanup and recovery effort. Saturday, February 2nd from 10am-12pm, volunteers are needed to aid in debris cleanup at the north end housing development of Pecks Beach Village at 4th and Haven Avenue.

Remembering Super Volunteer Sue Canale

Volunteers are the glue that holds our special events together. During First Night, for example, over 80 volunteers work at the various entertainment venues to keep things running smoothly.

One of our Super Volunteers, Susan Canale, a woman who has been invaluable to Ocean City for over 30 years, passed away on December 23rd.

Food Cupboard Returns to St. Peter's Methodist Church

The Ocean City Ecumenical Council Community Food Cupboard will return to its first floor location at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church. After being temporarily located at the Ocean City Civic Center due to flooding on the first floor at St. Peter’s, the Food Cupboard is renewed, restored and ready to continue its 36 year tradition of serving the needy residents of Ocean City. Beginning JANUARY 2, 2013, the Ocean City Ecumenical Council Community Food Cupboard will be open Monday – Friday, Noon – 3:00PM at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 8th Street and Central Avenue.

OCHM Announces Changes to Hours

The Ocean City Historical Museum will add evening hours to its weekly schedule.  Starting January 3, 2013, the Museum will be open an additional three hours on Thursdays until 7PM.  This will increase the total number of hours the Museum is open to 30 hours per week, excluding special events.  Adding these hours will allow the Museum to gauge the public’s interest in evening hours.  If you’ve never been to the Museum, this is a great opportunity to check out the Museum.
