Ocean City’s 3rd Annual “Earlier than the Bird” Shopping Extravaganza should prove once again to be a ton of fun as shoppers come out in the early morning hours to snatch up bargains – the weekend before

Thanksgiving, Saturday, November 19th. Shoppers truly come out early, hitting the streets by 7am to gobble up the savings at the Downtown’s 100 shops from 6th to 11th Street along Asbury Avenue. The theme of the shopping day is to “Not be a turkey and get out earlier than the bird and gobble up the savings!” The weekend before Thanksgiving allows for fun and festive shopping in a more relaxed atmosphere - literally, as many shoppers get into the spirit and shop in their pajamas. The Downtown gives away over 30 turkeys to shoppers deemed to have the best pajamas – and the merchants get in on the act as well and work in their pajamas for the day. Aside from the great deals from 7am-Noon, the Downtown also offers free coffee, giveaways and shoppers can sign up in the stores to win $25 Downtown gift certificates ($500 worth). The weekend also kicks off the free weekend events in Downtown Ocean City, held every weekend – including free horse and carriage rides (noon-3pm at 9th & Asbury), free face painters, balloon sculptures and more. New this year, the Downtown will offer Friday evening Hospitality Nights from December 2nd thru the 23rd from 5-8pm, including evening shopping specials, entertainment, free horse and carriage rides, Santa and more!
