Kickin' Celtic Fundraiser Party

Ocean City- The Ocean City Fine Arts League announces their new spring event a “Kickin’ Celtic FUNdraiser Party”, to be held Saturday, April 17 from 7 pm to 11 pm at the Hibiscus Restaurant in Somers Point. The Barley Boys, a high energy, original Celtic Band will headline the event. “ This past winter has been so cold and dreary we felt the community needed a fun event to help them throw off the winter doldrums and welcome spring!” said, OCFAL manager Joanne Bernardini. “ The Barley Boys are the kind of band that has you up on your feet and dancing or at the very least clapping your hands and tapping your toes! Their powerful drums, high energy fiddle, and their innovative use of bass and guitars all join together to form a truly exciting sound”, she continued. The Barley Boys Band has achieved a new level of recognition in the Celtic Music Scene and has taken their live performances from the local pub scene to the festival stages across the country. The joy of traditional Irish tunes blends with the excitement of today’s rock.

A performance by the dancers of the Coyle School of Irish Dance will round out the entertainment for this event. The school has branches in Philadelphia and Southern Jersey. The dancers are World and National Championship winners. Additionally, they are repeat winners of the Best Dance Group prize in both the Philadelphia and Conshohocken St. Patrick’s Day Parades.

“Of course no self respecting Celtic party would be complete without an Irish Menu and beer!”’ said Bernardini. “We will have a full hot buffet that features Irish cuisine with additional American and vegetarian choices sure to please all attendees of this event. Each adult ticket holder will receive a drink coupon good for a draft beer as part of their ticket price.” Bernardini proudly continued.

In these hard economic times people need their spirits lifted as much as we need to raise funds for our organization. “ Bernadini said. “Why not combine the two? It’s a win-win for our organization and the community. continued Bernardini. “ The funds raised by our “Irish” auctions, and 50/50 will help the Ocean City Fine Arts League continue to offer the local community art educational programs as well as support our gallery and out-reach programs.” said Bernardini.

Tickets to the event are $35 and are available by mail or in person at Art on Asbury, 608 Asbury Ave., Ocean City and at the door the night of the event. For more information please call 609-814-0308 or visit www.oceancityfineartsleague.org
