WHO:  Dick Richards, long time Ocean City resident, musician and actor

WHAT: Will be honored prior to his induction into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame

WHEN:  Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 11:30 a.m.

WHERE:  Mayor’s Office, 3rd Floor of City Hall, 9th and Asbury Ave., Ocean City

WHAT ELSE: Dick Richards, aka Dick Boccelli, was the original drummer of Bill Haley’s Comets, the legendary Rock’n Roll band whose mega hits Rock Around The Clock and Shake Rattle and Roll ushered in the era of Rock’n Roll. He and his original band mates will be inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio on April 14. On April 10, Mayor Jay Gillian will read a proclamation honoring Richards for his achievements and thanking him for the recognition he has brought to Ocean City. He will also present Richards with a Piece of the Boardwalk, the City’s highest commendation on behalf of the community.
