Photographer James Adam Taylor Brings His Exhibit "Photo Transfers" to Ocean City Arts Center in February

Imagine a majestic photograph of a mountain or a simple reproduction of a leaf and then picture these images permanently transferred to beautiful birch wood or simply put on a piece of notepaper. That's the kind of unique photography that James Adam Taylor brings to the Ocean City Arts Center February 1 through February 29. Meet Adam, as he likes to be called, at an open reception Friday, February 10 from 7pm to 8:30 pm.

Taylor, a resident of Williamstown, New Jersey, began producing photo transfers while a student at Rowan University in 2003. Taylor says, "photo transfers are when an image moves from its original surface to a secondary substrate, such as paper or wood. The exhibit explores the outdoors with images of mountains in Utah, a star-filled sky above a barn, various foliage and beautiful views of glaciers from a high altitude. Taylor says, "the subject matter I focused on for this show is what you may see if you were to travel this country to spend time in remote and rural places. The grandeur of a mountain or simple portrait of a leaf gives me a great feeling of awe for the world outside and what we as humans have control over".

Ocean City Arts Center Executive Director Rosalyn Lifshin said, "We first met Adam when he won third prize in our Juried Photography Show last April. We were so impressed with his work, that our Board President Dr. Jack Devine immediately offered him the opportunity to exhibit here.

Mr. Taylor's work is for sale and ranges between $100 and $600 with most pieces about $200. The Ocean City Arts Center is open 9 am to 9 pm, Monday through Friday, and 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday. Admission is free. The Arts Center is located in the Library Community Center at 1735 Simpson Avenue, Ocean City, New Jersey.
