Authors sign at Sun Rose Words and Music in April and May
Ocean City--Ocean City authors Fred and Susan Miller will sign their new book "Legendary Locals of Ocean City" at Sun Rose Words and Music, 756 Asbury Avenue, (609) 399-9190, Saturday, April 28, 11am to 1pm, and block party Saturday, May 5, 11am to 3pm.
The Millers, who have authored seven books on Ocean City and the surrounding area, have compiled the histories of more than 175 memorable Ocean City residents.
Locals that have served the town in many different ways are featured from long-time Public Relations Director Mark Soifer to amusment park owner and former Mayor Roy Gillian to the first African-American lifeguard, Alvin Thompson. Other interesting locals include Harry Headley who served as Mayor from 1911 to 1915 and in 1931. Headley was instrumental in building the Ninth Street Bridge which connects Somers Point to Ocean City. "Legendary Locals of Ocean City" includes the history of many living legends as well as those that are not as well known but helped create "America's Greatest Family Resort".
