Unlocking the Secrets of the Blue Zone

FREE  DAY, LONG HEALTH FAIR AT THE LIBRARY PART OF OCEAN CITY’S TRIBUTE TO PHILIPPINES

Loma Linda off the blue waters of the Philippines is where people enjoy the greatest longevity in the world.  It is known as the “Blue Zone.”

As part of Ocean City’s third annual tribute to that country, a group of Filipino physicians and nurses will hold a free, health seminar, “Unlocking the Secrets of the Blue Zone.” The event will be held in the Ocean City Library’s Senior Center, 17th and Simpson Ave., Sunday, July 22 from 9a.m. to 3 p.m.

The program will feature such subjects as Learn How to Reverse Type 2 Diabetes, Beat Cancer, Lower Blood Pressure and Combat Depression. Life style experts and councilors will share a wealth of information on Diet, Nutrition and various health therapies on life and living.

The day’s line-up includes: 9 to 10:30 a.m.: Metabolic Syndrome and Cardiovascular Disease with M.D. Horace Delisser and Opal Nellie Delisser, R.N., N.P.

10:30-11:30 a.m: How to Reverse Type Two Diabetes, Merilyn Brockett, R.N.,M.S.N.

11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Optional Seven Course Vegetarian Lunch, $5, free Vegetarian Hors d’oeuvres served all day. Philippine Folk Songs and the Blue Zone New Clips Presentation will be featured during this segment.

1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.: How to Combat Depression, Ben Abastillas, M.D.

2:15 p.m. to 3 p.m.: How to Beat Cancer, Tessie Abastillas, M.D.

The program is presented by the Adventist University of the Philippines, New York Sub-Chapter and the New Jersey Chapter of Seventh Day Adventists Health Department under the auspices of the Philippine Consulate, N.Y., N.Y.

The weekend also includes a two day Trade and Tourism Festival in the Pavilion of the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, July 21-22.The Sounds of Manila, one of the premier bands specializing in the Manila Sound and other prominent Filipino entertainers, will be featured from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Music Pier Auditorium on Sat., July 21.The show will also include a dazzling Yo Yo demonstration to music by Air Circus of Ocean City.
