Plop Contest, Gospel Show, Hairspray, Race, Highlight Weekend
As usual, the summer has whizzed by. As usual, there will be plenty to do at
(Aug. 31) The Labor Day Weekend kicks off with the King and Queen of Plop Contest, aka Miss Fall and Mr. Fall Guy, on Friday,
Entry in the contest is free and is open to all age groups. Prizes will be awarded and all contestants will receive a Right Proper Plopper Participation Certificate.
In addition, we will have celebrity ploppers who will not be eligible for prizes but are participating to increase their fame and stature in the community.
They include Jerry Lukas (the falling cartoonist) who will draw cartoons lying on his back; Ocean City’s Dancing Fish, young ladies dressed in fish costumes who will dance and then plop; Ken Thorpe and friends who will make and sail paper airplanes as we watch them fall; J.T. Williams, the plopping Santa Claus; Doug Jewell and his plopping pirates in an exciting plopping sword duel; Suzanne Muldowney, aka Shelly the Mermaid, who will sink dramatically to the sand.
Others celebritie scheduled are the costumed Martin Z. Mollusk with the real Hermit Crab MZM falling for the first time together in public (bring your cameras for this historic event); Trash Buster, the City’s Canned Crusader, who will sing his theme song “Stand By Your Can” before plopping; the World’s Only Wind Chimes Band, that will play its chart topper, “Twinkle, Twinkle, Falling Star”; Marcia Shallcross, the downtown Plopper; Miss Ocean City, Junior Miss Ocean City and Little Miss Ocean City with a Plopping Skit; Muscle Men from Ocean City Fitness who will flex and fall, Nancy Fox, with her Plopping Sopranos and much more.
