Trail of Two Cities a Popular Event for Both Runners and Walkers

Ocean City’s TRAIL OF TWO CITIES 5K Run/Walk over the new Causeway between Ocean City and Somers Point on Nov. 2 provides a spectacular experience for both runners and walkers alike.

If you’re a runner you get to test your endurance over the high inclines of the bridges. If you’re a walker you are able to enjoy the scenic wetlands, and bay plus a panoramic view of the City. Bring a camera and wow your friends with some great photos.

 

The run is open to all ages from 9 and under to 70 and over. It starts 8 a.m. at the Ocean City Transportation Center, 9th and Haven Ave. Pre registration received by Oct.30 is $25, day of race at Transportation Center is $30. No mail-ins after Oct. 26. To be considered pre-registered all forms must be received by Oct. 24.

Family Rate: Immediate families of up to four people can register for $70. Separate registration forms are required for each family participant. Family must pre-register and all registration forms must be mailed together and received by Oct. 24. Awards are given to first over all male and female in age groups and top three male and female finishers. Age groups are under 9 years, 9-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 70 plus.

Commemorative shirts are guaranteed to the first 300 pre-registrants as supplies last. Beat the crowd and pick up an entry packet, pre-registrants only, Fri. Nov. 1 at the City’s Aquatic and Fitness Center, 1735 Simpson Ave. Sorry: no pets, bikes, skateboards, roller blades or strollers permitted. The course is police controlled.

Race day registration starts 7 a.m., at the Transportation Center. Bus will be available at the finish line at JFK Park in Somers Point to transport runners to the start before the race. Bus will also transport runners back to Somers Point after the race. The finish and awards ceremony will be held in Somers Point after all participants have completed the course.

(Oct. 17-19) The Ocean City Fishing Club sponsors a 100th Anniversary SURF FISHING Tournament for six member teams of men and women throughout the East Coast. (Oct. 20) American Cancer Society MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER: 8:30 a.m., registration at the Ocean City High School Football Field. Parking is available at 5th & the boardwalk.
