Another week of pageantry in Ocean City includes the Miss Crustacean Beauty Pageant on Wednesday, the Little Miss Ocean City Pageant on Friday and the Junior Miss Ocean City Pageant on Saturday. The original beauty contest for crustaceans returns as an evening event this year. In an annual tradition, Ocean City celebrates the beauty of hermit crabs with contestants vying for the coveted Cucumber Rind Cup. WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OCEAN CITY 8/4/21 Boardwalk Art Shows and Pops’ Salute to Aretha Franklin The 58th annual Boardwalk Art Show will be held Friday through Sunday (August 6 to 8) on the boardwalk between Eighth Street and 13th Street. The celebration of the arts will include a newer event – the Art of Surfing Festival – Thursday to Saturday (August 5 to 7) at the Ocean City Music Pier. The Boardwalk Art Show features oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings, photography, handmade jewelry, prints and drawings on display and for sale. The Ocean City Pops performed an exceptional free concert at Carey Stadium on Saturday in honor of our nation’s birthday, and a whole new audience got to hear our local orchestra. The official grand-reopening Pops concert at the Ocean City Music Pier is scheduled for Sunday, July 11. A different sort of sound will fill the Music Pier on Monday, July 12 as The Machine performs its tribute to Pink Floyd. The procession will cap off the 66th annual Dave Blyler & Herb Godfrey Memorial Antique and Classic Auto Show and Parade.
