Kelli Rabke to Join Girls Weekend in Ocean City

What's Happening in Ocean City, NJ 1/17/18 Ocean City’s third annual Girls Weekend in April will feature a show titled “Defying Gravity” – about that special balancing act of motherhood and career that can sometimes seem like it breaks the laws of physics. The show stars Kelli Rabke, a Broadway star and Bergen County mom of two young children. Rabke will weave tales of motherhood, music, and the misadventures of life and love. She performs 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7 on the Ocean City Music Pier. “Defying Gravity” is part of Girls Weekend, which is scheduled for April 6 to 8 this year. Ocean City Celebrates Black History Month

What's Happening in Ocean City, NJ 2/9/18 Ocean City will be host to a variety of events to mark Black History Month in February.   The Ocean City Free Public Library joins the National African American Read-In on Wednesday, Feb. 7. The day will include community readings of African American literature. All readings will be held in the Children’s Activity Room:

  • 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Toddler Time (Ages 2-3), featuring African American authors and artists
  • 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.: Story Train (Ages 4-5), featuring African American authors and artists
  • 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Open Mic, everyone invited to participate by bringing a favorite short passage from a book, poem, or speech by an African American author to read aloud

Ocean City Announces 2018 Night in Venice Theme

What's Happening in Ocean City, NJ 1/31/18 Tickets on sale for OCTC Children’s and Broadway Series Ocean City will celebrate “TV’s Greatest Hits” this year during the 64th annual Night in Venice boat parade on July 28. The parade and decorated bayfront home contest are a highlight of the summer season in Ocean City. Thousands of spectators line the bayfront, and thousands more attend private parties at homes along the route from the Ocean City-Longport Bridge to Tennessee Avenue. A fireworks display caps off the bayfront festivities at the conclusion of the parade. The parade this year starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 28. The “TV’s Greatest Hits” theme is optional but offers decades of possibilities for participants in the event. Dr. Martin Luther King Celebrations in Ocean City

What's Happening in Ocean City, NJ 1/10/18 Ocean City celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at two different events this weekend: the annual King Ceremony on Saturday (Jan. 13) at the Bill and Nancy Hughes Performing Arts Center and the King Day of Service on Monday (Jan. 15). The ceremony at 1 p.m. on Saturday brings the community together to remember King through words, song and dance. This year’s celebration includes a keynote address from the Rev. Marcia Stanford of Macedonia United Methodist Church in Ocean City and songs from Michelle Harris-Anderson, a former Miss Ocean City, former Miss Delaware and member of the Ocean City High School Class of 1989.
