Let’s end the column with a quiet poem.

Silent Partners

When the wind eases

and loose newspapers

lay flat on the pavement-

When nothing flaps

and sun flowers droop

above the cinders-

When leaves cease speaking

to each other

and to me-

I hold still

and listen

to the stillness-

I hold still

and the stillness

listens with me…
