Hundreds of Corvettes to be on Display Here on Sunday

What’s Happening in Ocean City, NJ 9/14/16

More than 400 Corvettes will be displayed on the Boardwalk from 6th Street to 14 Street on Sunday, Sept. 18. Hours for the free display are 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be a special exhibition in front of the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, with an awards ceremony scheduled at 3:30 p.m. For information, call (609) 457-0081 or visit

(Sept. 15) CAPE-ATLANTIC SEVERE WEATHER CONFERENCE: The City of Ocean City and the Press of Atlantic City will co-sponsor a free event that will provide an opportunity for the public to ask a panel of expert meteorologists and emergency managers about tropical storms, nor’easters and other weather-related issues. The 2016 Cape-Atlantic Severe Weather Conference is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Ocean City Music Pier (Boardwalk between Eighth and Ninth streets). Anybody in southern New Jersey with an interest in the weather is invited to attend and participate.

(Sept. 17) WALK TO DEFEAT ALS: Join as an individual or a team at the Sports and Civic Center (6th Street and Boardwalk). Registration opens at 9 a.m. There will be an opening ceremony at 9:45 a.m. The walk starts at 10 a.m. The closing ceremony will be at noon.

(Sept. 17) PTA UNLIMITED RIDES FUNDRAISER: $20 wristbands will be good for unlimited rides 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Gillian’s Wonderland Pier (Sixth Street and Boardwalk). All proceeds benefit the Ocean City Parent-Teacher Association. Purchase wristbands at front ticket box by the carousel.

(Sept. 18) “AMERICAN EXPERIENCE, THE BOYS OF ‘36”: A new documentary from PBS highlights the 1936 University of Washington crew team whose victories at the Olympics spurred hope during the Great Depression. Free showing at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 17th and Simpson Ave. at 2 p.m. in the Chris Maloney Lecture Hall. On Thurs., Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m., there will be a free video presentation of the author, Daniel James Brown, from his 2015 talk in Bellingham, WA.

(Sept. 24) WALK FOR THE WOUNDED: 8:30 a.m. registration in front of the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. This is a three-mile walk on the Boardwalk to raise money for wounded soldiers returning from overseas. (Sept. 24) OCEAN CITY AIRPORT FESTIVAL: This annual free festival at the Ocean City Municipal Airport, 26th St. and Bay Ave., 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., features ground displays of unusual airplanes, including B-25J Mitchell Bomber and TBM Torpedo Avenger; N.J. Pine Barons Radio Controlled Model Airplane Show; Banner Pick-Up Demonstration; Children’s Paper Airplane Contest; Antique Car and Truck Show; Bubble Mania; Children’s Bounce; Food and more. (Oct. 1) JOHN WILLIAMS TRIBUTE CONCERT with the Ocean City Pops orchestra: The show that was cancelled on Sept. 4, 2016, due to the threat of a tropical storm has been rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Ocean City Music Pier.
