Just Wanted to Remind you That…

The second MR. MATURE AMERICA Pageant is set for March 28 at the Music Pier starting at 7 p.m. At 6 p.m. there will be a display of Memorabilia and keepsakes from area folks in conjunction with the Pageant’s theme MEMORIES. The Ocean City Historical Museum will feature a display. The exhibit will be open both before and after the program.

We hope to use this exhibit as the basis for an Old Year’s Celebration that is in the planning stages with the Museum. Anyone who would like to show their Memorabilia on March 28th should call (609) 399-6111-Ext. 9300 or email msoifer@hotmail.com. Exhibitors will get free tickets to the Pageant.

The opening Pageant number will be a rousing dance rendition of “It’s Raining Men” choreographed by Jessica Albertson who produced the opening dance last year. The men will talk about their Memories and compete in Talent, Poise and Question categories.

The Pageant is open to men 55 years and older and is the only event of its kind in the world. Entry in the contest is free, call (609) 399-6111, Ext. 9300 for information or email msoifer@hotmail.com. Prizes are awarded to winners in various categories and every contestant receives a commemorative T Shirt, Certificate and a Ham from our good friends Dietz and Watson, a Pageant sponsor.

Tickets for the Pageant are $10 assigned seating, available March 1 at City Hall first floor information center, from www.ocnj.us/boxoffice or at the door. For information, call (609) 399-6111 Ext. 9300. Proceeds will benefit the Ocean City Ecumenical Food Cupboard.

I have written a poem I would like to dedicate to the Pageant called

We are driving home from Ocean City-

The children are asleep

In the back of our old Chevy station wagon-

A moonstruck road hums softly…

We pull up the driveway

And carry the kids

One by one

Into the house…

They cling to us

In the midst of dreams

As we lower them into their beds…

Our children are safe-

The world is at peace-

And a God in Heaven rules the Universe….
